What Aniimo is
A creature-collecting action RPG from Pawprint Studio: an open world you explore, creatures you catch with Aniipods and raise, and real-time combat rather than turns. Free to play on every platform, and on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
How Aniimo are organised
This trips up nearly every other source, so it is worth ninety seconds. There are 100 species and 235 forms, and the marketed "200+ Aniimo" counts the second number.
A species is the creature; a form is the one you own. Element, stats and skills all belong to the form — some forms come from weather, some from time of day, some are rare variants. An owned creature is a species wearing a form, and it can change which one it is wearing.
Each form has an element, a role (DPS, BREAK, Support, Heal or REGEN) and an evolution stage — Lumin, Gamma or Nova, with some creatures sitting outside the ladder entirely.
What nobody knows yet
Worth saying plainly, because several sites present these as settled and they are not.
- Evolution requirements. The wiki publishes every evolution chain and never the requirement, so all 235 forms have an empty conditions list here rather than a guess.
- When things spawn. Habitats are known, and so are level bands — 14 of the 16 habitats carry their region's, read out of the game client. The weather and time of day that actually govern an encounter are not published by anyone.
- The type chart. One fan site is the only source for the matrix. It is published here labelled, not laundered.
All three can only be answered by playing, which is exactly why they are worth having. They get filled in from launch onwards.

For the whole of the Americas this is Tuesday 15 September. That is not a contradiction with the 16th — it is the same instant in a different timezone, and it is why Steam's store page shows a 15 September date.

Editions and prices
| Edition | Xbox | PlayStation |
|---|---|---|
| Advanced Edition | £9.99 | £7.99 |
| Collector's Edition | £19.99 | £18.99 |
The price difference between platforms is real, not a typo. The bundled pet is also platform-exclusive — Doggo Dude on Xbox, Fluffy Friend on PlayStation — so any site publishing one universal contents list is wrong on at least one platform. Steam and Epic never had a pack at all; Steam's API returned no DLC and no packages. Whether these editions remain purchasable after launch is not something anyone here has re-checked in the live stores.
Servers and region availability
Three regional shards: Aniimo-Americas, Aniimo-Europe, Aniimo-Apac. Characters are locked to the shard they are created on, though one account may hold characters on more than one. This is the single hardest thing on this page to undo, and it matters more now that progress does follow you between devices — see below.
The iOS listing is absent in Russia, Mainland China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Morocco, while present in essentially every other market checked — even though Russian and Vietnamese are both shipping game languages. Re-checked against Apple's catalogue on 21 September 2026: all five are still missing, and nothing official has said whether that is permanent or staged.
Download sizes and requirements
- Xbox: 35 GiB
- PC: 45 GB free space required
- iOS: 3.46 GiB
- Android: 516 MB
- Minimum PC: i7-9700 / Ryzen 5 3600X · 12 GB RAM · GTX 1060 / RX 6600 · Windows 10 64-bit
- Recommended: i7-12700F / Ryzen 7700X · 16 GB RAM · RTX 3070 / RX 6800
The PC figures are Steam's published table. Pawprint's pre-download notice of 14 September carries its own specification table as an image, and at least one site reading it reports materially lower requirements — a GTX 970 floor rather than a GTX 1060. Nobody here has read that image, so the published Steam table stands and the discrepancy is recorded rather than resolved. The game requires an active internet connection at all times.
What was outstanding at launch
Four things had not been announced when this site last checked on 8 September, against Steam's news feed and the official news index. Two of them have since landed — which is the more useful half, because an absence is the kind of claim that quietly stops being true:
- Preload — landed. Pre-download opened on 14 September at 10:00 UTC+8, on PC, PS5 and Xbox.
- Redeem codes, and a redeem-code system — landed. Both shipped with the launch build. The field is Settings → Account → Gift Code Redemption.
The other two have not been re-checked since, so they are listed as unchecked rather than as still missing:
- Day-one patch
- Post-launch roadmap or content calendar
Cross-save and accounts
Cross-play: confirmed. You can play with people on other platforms.
Cross-save: not confirmed. Nothing official says your progress follows you to another device.
Cross-save: confirmed — within one server. Your progress follows your account to any platform on the same shard.
Cross-save: confirmed — within one server. Your progress follows your account to any platform on the same shard.
These are two different features, and treating them as one is the most common mistake in coverage of this game. Aniimo has committed to the first and has not committed to the second.
These are two different features and most coverage still runs them together — but the distinction that actually costs people something is no longer cross-play versus cross-save. It is platform versus server. Your progress crosses platforms freely and does not cross shards at all.

What is confirmed
Cross-play. Steam's own store category metadata lists Cross-Platform Multiplayer, and the Xbox listing states both cross-platform multiplayer and cross-platform co-op.
Cross-save is not. No first-party source states that a save moves between PS5, Xbox, PC and mobile. The strongest official wording anywhere is an aspiration rather than a commitment, and it omits PlayStation entirely.
Cross-save. Pawprint's pre-download notice states it outright — and the exact wording is the part worth keeping, because every secondary write-up drops half of it:
Cross-save. Pawprint's pre-download notice states it outright — and the exact wording is the part worth keeping, because every secondary write-up drops half of it:
“Game progress is fully shared across all platforms within the same server.”
“Within the same server” is the whole caveat. Aniimo runs three shards and a character belongs to one of them, so the guarantee covers every device you own and none of your friends on another region. The account underneath is the Aniimo Pass, an email account your platform logins attach to — “You can link your Steam account to your Aniimo Pass email account.”
Official pre-download notice, 14 September 2026. This site called cross-save unconfirmed for its first fortnight, which was accurate when written and stopped being so on 14 September — it is in the log below.
How accounts actually work
- The account key is an email address — the Aniimo Pass — not a platform account. Your Steam, Xbox or PlayStation login links to it.
- There are three regional shards — Aniimo-Americas, Aniimo-Europe, Aniimo-Apac.
- Characters are locked to the shard they are created on. One account may hold characters on more than one, but they are separate characters with separate progress, and no amount of cross-save moves one to another.
- Collection state hangs off a character, not an account. That is why the shard, not the device, is the decision to make carefully.
- The game is always-online on every platform — which is what makes a single server-authoritative account work in the first place.
The always-online, server-authoritative design is what makes a single email-keyed account plausible in the first place — which is why cross-save may well arrive. It just has not been announced.
Practical version: link every platform to the same Aniimo Pass the first time each one asks, and agree a shard with anyone you intend to play with before anybody creates a character.

What it costs
Short answer: not a gacha game — creatures are caught, not pulled. But the question has a real history behind it, and it is worth knowing the whole thing rather than either half.
Short answer: creatures are caught, not pulled, and that has held up in the live game. The longer answer is that "not a gacha" and "not monetized" are different claims, and a lot of launch reviews ran into the second one.

The timeline
- 26 June 2026 — the claim. Executive Producer Jovi Zhang tells MMORPG.com that “Aniimo is definitely not a gacha game. We are sure about that,” and that monetization “will mainly focus on people or Aniimo outfits”.
- July 2026 — the contradiction. The global closed beta ships the Irisalis “Crevice Exploration” event: spend a Crevice Beacon per attempt for a chance at the Legendary, with an accumulating currency providing a pity guarantee. Players read it as obfuscated gacha, and say so loudly.
- 3 September 2026 — the redesign. A dev letter removes it. Legendary acquisition becomes: collect tokens through exploration, craft a Legendary Aniipod, get a one-time encounter. The same letter deletes the rune system outright and flattens Prismana odds.
- 16 September 2026 — the store opens. No banner, and no creature behind a paywall: the commitment held. What shipped alongside it was a monthly pass, two battle-pass tiers, a cosmetics shop, storage upgrades and speed-ups — enough that Steam reviews settled at Mixed over monetization on a day the game also peaked above 127,000 concurrent players. The complaint is not that anyone was sold a creature; it is that the shop was legible from the first hour.
So the honest position is: a gacha-shaped system existed in testing, players pushed back, and it was removed before launch. Whether you read that as a studio listening or a studio caught trying is a judgement call — but those are the facts.
So the honest position is: a gacha-shaped system existed in testing, it was removed before launch, and it has not come back. The roster is not behind a pull button. Whether the rest of the shop is what you were promised in June is a judgement this site does not make for you.

What it actually costs
Free-to-play on every platform, and included with Xbox Game Pass day one.
Lumin Crystals — the paid currency
| Crystals | Price |
|---|---|
| 60 | $0.99 |
| 300 | $4.99 |
| 980 | $14.99 |
| 1,980 | $29.99 |
| 3,280 | $49.99 |
| 6,480 | $99.99 |
Read off the iOS listing before launch and unchanged in the live shop, checked 2026-09-21. Each tier pays a first-purchase bonus once — matching Glimmer, plus about 10% extra crystals.
Everything else
| Product | Price |
|---|---|
| Aniimo: Monthly Pass | $4.99 |
| Advanced Comp. Handbook (battle pass) | $9.99 |
| Collector's Comp. Handbook (battle pass) | $19.99 |
In the live shop that sits across 7 tabs, with outfits at 380–1,280 Lumin Crystals and packs at 60–2,980 Lumin Crystals, plus a daily rotating Corner Shop bought with Voxel Coins rather than money.
One number does not add up, and it is worth flagging rather than smoothing over. Google Play advertises this game's in-app purchases at $0.19 – $149.99 per item. The largest crystal pack on either ladder is $99.99 and the most expensive pass is $19.99, so something is sold for half as much again as anything documented above. We have not found what it is. It is listed here as an open question rather than filled in with a plausible bundle.
The currencies
- Lumin Crystals — paid. Buy items from the Shop. No in-game source listed.
- Glimmer — earnable premium. Buys from outpost vendors; a dozen-plus sources including the battle pass.
- Credits — the soft currency, “the standard currency issued by Astra”.
Beyond those there are well over a dozen more — Home Coin, Companion Coin, Pearl Cascade, Eggshell Coin, Training Points, Voxel Coin, Sparkling Crystal and others. Most are narrow exchange tokens for one system rather than general spending money.
Corrections
Every time this site published something wrong, what replaced it, and what changed our mind. Nothing is ever removed from this page.
7 corrections since 13 September 2026
- 2 wrong
- 5 changed
How this works
- Nothing is ever removed or rewritten. An entry that turns out to be wrong gets a new entry; the old one stays. The one entry anybody would want deleted is exactly the one worth reading.
- Every entry carries its date and what changed our mind — a dev letter, a store listing, something seen in-game, or a reader. A correction with no source is just a differently-worded unsourced claim.
- Filling in a blank is not a correction. Large parts of this site are openly empty — spawn weather, time of day, evolution requirements — and landing a fact the site never claimed is progress, not a mistake. Counting those here would pad the log with work.
- A quiet fix still lands here. Including the ones nobody else noticed. Fixing something silently is the failure this log exists to prevent.
Found something wrong? Open an issue — the site is open source, so a correction and the change that fixes it end up in the same place.
We said Aniimo has not launched a redeem-code system. Across all three closed betas, every reward was delivered straight to the in-game mailbox with nothing to type. So any site currently listing "working Aniimo codes" is publishing strings that cannot be entered anywhere. There is no field to put them in.
Actually There is a field. The launch build shipped gift-code redemption at Settings → Account → Gift Code Redemption, codes are case-sensitive, and rewards arrive in the in-game mailbox. Eleven codes are live as this is written and one has already expired. Everything in the original sentence was true of the betas and none of it was true of the game, which is the whole failure: the claim was about a feature’s existence and was dated to a check made eight days before release, on a page whose entire subject was a feature that launches with the game. It was also an accusation — the sites listing codes were right, and this one was telling readers they were fabricating. The page now states the system’s existence as a written-down fact rather than deriving it from the code list being non-empty, so an empty list can never bring the claim back.

We said Cross-save: not confirmed. Nothing official says your progress follows you to another device. Treat your first platform as permanent until Pawprint says otherwise — and if you mainly intend to play on a phone, starting on PC on the 16th could mean restarting on the 23rd.
Actually Cross-save is confirmed, and was already confirmed when that sentence was last edited. Pawprint’s pre-download notice of 14 September states that "Game progress is fully shared across all platforms within the same server", and names the account it hangs off: "You can link your Steam account to your Aniimo Pass email account." The advice was therefore backwards for a week on the one decision it existed to help with — a phone player was told to consider waiting when they could simply have signed in. Two things survive unchanged and now carry the weight the platform warning used to: the three regional shards, and the fact that a character is locked to the one it was created on. "Within the same server" is the caveat, and it is the one every secondary write-up drops. The mistake was ours rather than the source’s: the notice was public, and this site had recorded the official news index as dead-ending at an id six posts below it.

We said No official probability disclosure exists for Aniimo, anywhere. All three closed betas were non-paid, so no real-money purchase has ever gone live and no rate has ever been published. Anyone quoting one is repeating an unverifiable number.
Actually The live game publishes rates for the Sparkling mutation: a base of 1 in 20,000 per Aniimo, with Little Fire Spirit at 1 in 2,500 and Irisalis excluded outright at 0%. "Anywhere" is what made the sentence wrong — the defensible claim was always narrower, and it is the one the page makes now: nothing bought with real money has a published rate, because nothing bought with real money is randomised. The unsourced beta rift numbers are still not published here and still trace to one site citing an unlinked forum thread. Worth noting alongside it, and not a retraction of anything: Google Play’s content rating for the Android listing reads "In-Game Purchases (Includes Random Items)".

We said The iOS package is 604 MiB.
Actually It is 3.46 GiB. Apple’s lookup API reports 3,719,547,904 bytes against build 1.0.3, read 21 September 2026. The figure did not change so much as the app did: 604 MiB was the placeholder the listing carried on 8 September, before the shipping build was uploaded, and this site quoted it for a fortnight as though it were the download. A reader clearing 604 MiB for it would have run out of space roughly five times over. Google Play now carries an Android figure too — 516 MB, an eighth of the iOS package for the same game, which is a packaging difference rather than a content one and is why the two are reported separately rather than averaged.

We said Berylline Causeway
Actually The region is Berylline Vale. That is the name the game shows, the name in the launch client's own region table, and the name in every quest line but one. "Berylline Causeway" is what the official wiki calls it, and this site copied the wiki without checking the name against the game. The region, its creatures and its page are unchanged; the old address redirects. The creature list the game keeps for the region is identical to the wiki's, which is how the two were matched rather than by name.
Checked in game, 16 September 2026; the launch client's region table (build 3535596) agrees · on /habitats/
We said Their 97 is our 95 plus two entries that are not creatures. Lunara is the 2025 press-cycle name for Fennelun — which their list also carries separately, so one creature is ranked twice under two names. Soleon matches no species in canon and no known alias; it appears to be a CBT-era name that no longer exists.
Actually Both halves were wrong, and the mistake was ours rather than the source's. Lunara and Soleon are real Aniimo, and they are in the dex now. The four sun-and-moon entries are two evolution families, not two creatures under four names: the game's own ids put Lunara at 1037100 beside Fennelun at 1037300, and Helion at 1036100 beside Soleon at 1036300 — the same family-then-member pattern that puts Emberpup at 1005100 beside Flameruff at 1005200. They carry four different descriptions, and aniidex lists two distinct stat blocks across the two pairs. The error came from a rename rule written into this site's data pipeline as a guess, never checked against an identifier — and it never even fired, because the wiki had always served the entry as "Fennelun". The guard that replaced it asserts that no alias may collapse two creatures the game numbers apart.

We said NO.013 Irisalis is missing from the official wiki's index because it is the only species with no Basic Form, and that single fact explains every 93 / 94 / 95 discrepancy you will find elsewhere.
Actually True when published, and the launch build changed it in two ways. Somniwing's single form was relabelled from Basic Form to Prismana Form — same creature, same art, same pet id 1023300 — and it promptly disappeared from the wiki's index grid, exactly as Irisalis always had. So there are two such species now, and the rule is better stated the other way round: the index lists species that have a Basic Form. Irisalis' dex number also moved, from 013 to 10001.

What the log is not
It is not a changelog. Features shipping, pages being added and art being redrawn do not appear here — only things that were stated as fact and turned out not to be.
It is also not where the missing data goes. Every row on this site already carries its own source and the date it was last verified, and the gaps say they are gaps. The tier list counts how much of it is still borrowed; the type chart says how far it will vouch for itself. This log only covers the times those labels were wrong.
Common questions
What is Aniimo?
Aniimo is a creature-collecting action RPG developed and published by Pawprint Studio. You explore an open world, catch and raise creatures called Aniimo, and fight in real time rather than in turns. It is out on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS and Android.
How many Aniimo are there?
There are 100 species and 235 forms. The marketed "200+ Aniimo" figure counts forms, not species — which is why sources disagree, and why a list of "200+ creatures" is the wrong shape for this game. Two wrinkles behind the rest of the disagreement: the official wiki's index only lists species that have a Basic Form, so Irisalis and Somniwing are absent from it while being perfectly real; and the launch build renumbered most of the dex, so a count or a number taken from a source written before 16 September 2026 will not line up with one taken after it.
What is the difference between a species and a form in Aniimo?
A species is the creature — Emberpup. A form is the version of it you actually own, and it is where everything mechanical lives: element, stats and skills all vary per form, not per species. Some forms come from weather, some from time of day, some are rare variants. So "what element is Emberpup?" is not quite a well-formed question; the answer belongs to the form in front of you.
Does Aniimo have cross-save or cross-progression?
Yes, within one server. Pawprint's pre-download notice of 14 September 2026 states that "Game progress is fully shared across all platforms within the same server." Progress hangs off an Aniimo Pass — an email account your platform logins are linked to — so signing in with the same one on another device continues the same character. The limit is the word "server": Aniimo runs three regional shards, characters are locked to the one they were created on, and nothing moves between them. So cross-save being on and your character being stuck on one shard are both true at once.
Does Aniimo have cross-play?
Yes. Steam lists Cross-Platform Multiplayer in its own store category metadata, and the Xbox listing states cross-platform multiplayer and cross-platform co-op. Playing together across platforms is confirmed — subject to the same shard rule as everything else.
Which platform should I start on?
It matters much less than it used to, because progress follows the account rather than the device. Pick whichever you like, link it to the same Aniimo Pass, and sign in with that on anything else. What you should pick deliberately is the server — that choice is the one you cannot undo.
Is Aniimo a gacha game?
Not in the way that word is usually meant. Creatures are caught in the world with Aniipods, not pulled from a banner, and Executive Producer Jovi Zhang said in June 2026 that Aniimo is "definitely not a gacha game". A closed-beta event for the Legendary Irisalis was gacha-shaped and was replaced before launch with a crafted Legendary Aniipod and a one-time encounter. What is true is that the game sells a battle pass, a monthly pass, cosmetics, storage and speed-ups, that Google Play rates its in-app purchases as including random items, and that a good many launch reviews found the shop harder to ignore than the absence of a banner.
Is Aniimo pay-to-win?
Nothing sold buys a creature you could not catch, which is the load-bearing claim and it has held up. What money buys is cosmetics, passes, convenience and speed — so the honest answer depends on whether you count time. This site does not score it: the store is a week old and no source states how party strength is rewarded in competitive play.
Is Aniimo free to play?
Yes, on every platform, and it is included with Xbox Game Pass from day one. The paid editions are battle-pass bundles, not the game itself.
Are there Aniimo redeem codes?
Yes. The launch build shipped a redemption field at Settings → Account → Gift Code Redemption, codes are case-sensitive, and rewards land in your in-game mailbox. This site said for its first week that no such system existed, which was true of the betas and wrong of the release — see the corrections log at the foot of this page, and /codes/ for the working list.
